Reports: Barcelona strike up interest in Theo Hernandez but he ‘wants to stay’ with Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

Barcelona are admirers of AC Milan full-back Theo Hernandez but they are set to be disappointed in their pursuit, according to reports.

There is no doubting that Theo’s decision to leave Real Madrid and join Milan was certainly a positive one for his development as he has established himself as one of the best attacking full-backs in world football over the past two and a half season with the Rossoneri, so it is perhaps no surprise that he is attracting interest from some of Europe’s elite clubs

According to what well-known Barcelona journalist Gerard Romero said on his Twitch channel (via OneFootball), the Catalan side are admirers of Theo, even if Mateu Alemany – the club’s sports director – would rather go for José Luis Gayá.

However, Fabrizio Romano reported that Theo Hernandez confirmed he is in advanced talks to extend his contract with the Rossoneri during an interview with The Athletic, which could well put an end to any interest.

“I’m very happy at Milan, we are discussing the renewal of my contract and things are going very well”, he said. Negotiations are underway for a new five-year deal (therefore a deadline of 2026 or 2027, and Theo ‘wants to stay’ with Milan.
