Theo Hernandez reveals what he told Calabria about stopping Mbappe

Theo Hernandez has offered some advice to Davide Calabria on how to try and stop Davide Calabria ahead of the Champions League meeting later this month.

Theo is currently away with the French national team and he was interviewed by Telefoot as part of a special on Kylian Mbappé, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

“Playing with Mbappé is incredible, I hope to continue doing so in the coming years,” he said.

As mentioned, Milan will face PSG in the Champions League in just over a couple of weeks, so Theo was asked for some advice that might help Calabria – who will play right-back – in stopping Mbappe.

“Thank goodness he plays on the other flank (laughs). I gave various pieces of advice to Calabria, but the best one is to foul him. Do it while you can (laughs).”

Theo has got to know Mbappe better given his experiences with the French national team at major tournaments, but theorising how to stop the winger versus actually stopping him are two very different things.

That could be one of the key battles over the two games for the Rossoneri, within two games that might determine if progress past the group stage is secured or not.

  1. You can’t stop Mbappe 1v1. All great players are stopped by team effort, not by one player containing them because it is impossible not to get outran by Mbappe at least 3-4 times a game. Literally impossible. So, if our wingers and midfielders help, he can be stopped.

  2. You have to tag team M’Bappe, like players usually do against Leao. Can’t keep fouling him either, the cards will come quick.

Oh wow. Calabria need advice about how to stop himself… from being mediocre? 😅
