AC Milan defender Theo Hernandez has described his goal against Atalanta at San Siro this evening as the ‘most important’ of his life.
With Milan 1-0 up heading into the final 15 minutes of the game, Theo picked the ball up on the corner of his own box and took it the length of the field beating several defenders before showing the composure needed to finish with his left foot into the bottom corner.
It sparked incredible scenes at San Siro as the over 75,000 fans present knew that it was the goal that moved the team one point away from winning a first league title for 11 years, with the pressure now on Inter to respond with a win against Cagliari.
Theo spoke to DAZN after the game to reflect on the performance and his wonderful solo goal, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
“I do everything for this team. It is a truly incredible evening with our fans. I like playing for Milan,” he said.
On his goal: “I left and told myself to go all the way. I scored an incredible goal. The credit goes to the whole team and also to the fans. It is an incredible evening. It is the most important goal of my life.”
On the Scudetto: “We are nearly there, we have to give everything and that’s it. We are happy, with our fans.”
On if he will watch Inter: “No, I won’t watch it, I’ll stay with my son.”
