Theo Hernandez makes bold statement ahead of final: “Messi doesn’t scare us”

By Oliver Fisher -

Theo Hernandez has made the bold claim that Lionel Messi doesn’t scare France ahead of Sunday’s World Cup final in Qatar.

Hernandez opened the scoring after five minutes against Morocco last night and then Kolo Randal Muani came off the bench to score 44 seconds after coming on as France booked their place in a second straight World Cup final.

What awaits them is a meeting with Argentina, who are being led by a Messi who is in inspired form at the moment. They lost their opening group stage game against Saudi Arabia but now – barring a scare against the Netherlands – they look to have plenty of momentum.

Speaking after the game, Hernandez claimed that Messi – who is of course a contender for the greatest footballer of all time – isn’t somebody who scares France much.

“Playing two World Cup finals in a row is an incredible moment. We did a good job, it was hard, but we are in the final. We will work hard to win this final,” he told RAI (via Eurosport).

“Now we have to think about the final. I’m tired, but it’s nice to win a World Cup semi-final. Now let’s recover for Sunday. Messi doesn’t scare us, Argentina are an incredible team but we have a few days to work.”

  1. Well-done Theo.
But even as a Milan fan, all I hope for is Argentina and Messi lifting the cup come Sunday.
You’re right though, Messi doesn’t scare you guys until you guys become freaking scared 😨😳.
