AC Milan recorded their second draw of the season against Lazio, extending a disappointing start to the new season. Following the poor result, Theo Hernandez spoke about the game and why he did not join Paulo Fonseca’s team talk during the cooling break.
When news broke this morning about Rafael Leao and Theo’s absence from the Milan starting eleven, many fans questioned Fonseca’s rumoured choices. Even after last week’s poor performances, the duo are, without a doubt, the stars of the team, and the news of their potential absence was shocking.
Whilst Fonseca commented on the decision before the game, with the Rossoneri failing to win once again, he will be questioned for his choice, especially when the duo played a vital part in the equaliser.
It doesn’t stop there, though. Eagle-eyed fans will have spotted Theo and Leao being absent from the coach’s team talk during the cooling break, and this has led to speculation about their relationship with the coach.
After the game, Theo spoke to MilanTV to review the disappointing draw and commented on the cooling break which he and Rafael Leao were absent from – his words have been relayed by Milan News.

“We started the game well. Not in the second half but afterwards, we managed to tie it and we wanted to win it, but we didn’t manage to do it.”
The image of the cooling break: what is your version of events?
“We were two minutes in, we didn’t need the cooling break. It was nothing against the team and the coach. Now we have to keep working to win all together.”
And again…
“We had been on the pitch for two minutes. We didn’t need it. Then people talk, and they say things that are not true. Rafa and I are always with the team to help, and that’s what’s important.”

They didn’t need a cooling break but both of them were drinking water like they have been walking thru a desert.
It’s not about getting cool towels thrown on your back Theo, but about being with your teammates. Maybe as one of the leaders (which obviously you are not worthy of being), you could inspire, advise, encourage, motivate, instruct your teammates to push hard and go for the win. The team is going thru a hard period and you as one of the captains separates from them.
But then again, all these years, when things were going bad, you usually found a way to make them worse, by getting a red card or getting into a fight.
Milan desperately needs a leader on this team.
Morata could be one of them, hopefully Rabiot is the other. Matt Hummells or even Sergio Ramos are desperately needed, because Theo, Calabria and Leao are not leaders. Today’s behavior was even a more concrete proof for it.
Kind of hard to motivate when you were so poor in the first two games that you got benched. LOL!!! From what place would Theo and Leao support the team? “Hey don’t be like us” ?

don’t understand fans here, it’s normal players show dissatisfaction about Manager choices. it’s job of manager to speak and convince the players.
Neither the coach has behaved well in this case, he said he didn’t even observed that 2players are not at team talk, this shows what this manager has become i.e., a perfect clown who can’t speak to his players.

Theo said that he and Leao are always with the team to help, after we just all saw that they weren’t.
Both Theo and Leao are acting just like Osimhen was acting for Napoli last season. He was beefing with the new coach and got him fired which derailed Napoli whole season, and they fired 2 or 3 other coaches. At the end Napoli hired a new coach who wanted him sold.
Same will happen at Milan. Fonseca will get fired and Theo and Leao will be sold next summer because no coach will tolerate this kind of behavior.
Allegri is a hard nose coach. He won’t put up with this trash.
Hopefully Milan won’t have the same problems to offload them as Napoli has with Osimhen.

It is the managements fault because they decided to construct a team with those 2 in the center of it. And we can see that they aren’t up to the task.
Those 2 were ass under the previous coach as well. Do you remember Leao being benched for the same reasons in the derby in 2023?
Any above average coach that Milan will hire will have Leao coming of the bench every game, not just 1 as a punishment.

Like it or not this is a big sign of how much respect two of the top team players have for Fonseca.
But again, where is the freaking management, Maldini used to be in all matches. Where is freaking Zlatan, did he slip on his big nose on the way to the game.

Leo and Theo can’t always start especially if they don’t perform and Leo is in trouble because fonceca loves wingers who can also go back and mark just hard working wingers he loves .And they are so many games that are coming so to bench his stars he gets a chance to see others players play which is normal .When the squad depth is huge like this its normal to rotate players by looking at a heavy fixture ,just look how pep rotate his line up it’s because of the heavy schedule of games and finding the balance to the team .Fonceca is pushing them to work harder by benching them they just need to woke up it’s a reality honestly .
