MN: Theo Hernandez suspended vs. Sampdoria but not Lazio – Pioli’s idea to replace him

By Oliver Fisher -

One of the sour notes from Saturday’s derby win over Inter was the red card that Theo Hernandez received, which means Stefano Pioli will not be able to call upon him in the next league game.

MilanNews reports that Theo will play from the first minute against Lazio in the Coppa Italia quarter-final at San Siro tomorrow evening, because the red card he was shown in the final minutes of the derby against Inter will force the Frenchman to miss the next league match but does not affect the cup.

For this Pioli will use him against the Biancocelesti and then on Sunday, in the Serie A match against Sampdoria, Davide Calabria could shift over to the left and take the place of his disqualified team-mate.

It is a solution that has been used before and seems to be on the cards because the natural deputy left-back Fode Ballo-Toure got an injury at AFCON.

  1. haha, the funny thing is we don’t have if any player in the starting 11 defense is injured or suspended…we have one solution for every problem in defense…He is Kalulu

  2. Why not give the best LB in our primavera a chance? Maybe he does well? If he doesn’t he can be replaced at the half by the RB that will have to play out of position.
