Thiaw discusses Lecce clash and boost from PSG win: “We have quality”

By Isak Möller -

Ahead of the game between AC Milan and Lecce, scheduled for 15:00 CET, Malick Thiaw spoke to the media about the Rossoneri’s current mood. Today, a win is needed to keep Inter from extending their lead at the top of the standings.

Stefano Pioli’s men are probably still beaming from the win against PSG mid-week but will now have to shift focus to the league. After three games without a win in the competition, they will need to send a strong signal to their rivals.

Speaking to MilanTV, as cited by MilanNews, Thiaw stated that the win against the French side has given them some much-needed energy ahead of today’s encounter. He also made it clear that Milan will try to play their game as usual.

On the win vs. PSG…

“We bring with us a lot of energy and motivation from the match against PSG to win today too.”

On the match…

“We want to focus on ourselves, we have quality and we want to play our game.”

On the national team…

“Now I’m focused on Milan, then I’ll think about Germany.”

It has always been a complicated match in this stadium…

“It’s true, it’s a complicated match especially after the match against PSG. We must have that mentality that makes a team great. After a match like this, we are here to get the three points. We must have the right mentality and personality.”

Thiaw did well against PSG and will be looking to build on that performance after a few shaky ones at the start of this season. On a good day, however, it’s clear that he and Fikayo Tomori are very tough to break through.
