After being halfway out of the door, Malick Thiaw has recovered his position and looks set to remain at AC Milan, according to a report.
There have been reports regarding Thiaw’s future for some time. Interest has been present from Italy, Germany and England, as you would expect for a young defender who has regularly impressed in Serie A.

However, it seemed a move to Como was most likely. In fact, the club even accepted a bid from their Serie A neighbours and Thiaw held several conversations with representatives. However, he opted to remain. Hoping to prove himself to Massimiliano Allegri or move to Germany.
Thiaw’s situation
Now, it seems that it will be the former. As MilanNews has learnt that Allegri is ‘pleasantly impressed’ with him and sees him as a part of the team. Furthermore, his performance against Arsenal has given him more reason to keep him around.
It is not a one-way situation, though. The German is feeling happy with his situation, and the relationship being built with Allegri, feeling valued in his team. Because of this, he is more than happy to stay put with the Diavolo.
A report this morning suggested that he could be used in the negotiations for Dusan Vlahovic, but the latest update makes that seem unlikely.

Anyway, hope we can offer him a better, longer contract if he wants to stay so badly.
Vlahovic costs 20mil. Why would Milan include Thiaw in the deal even if the rumors were true? He’s a good defender and fits Max’s system well. If anything, just exchange Musah and Vlahovic …
Juve already have McKennie. He’s fat, but he contributes a lot more than Musah.

Vlahovic for me would be great addition if he at least either comes on a reasonable fee and on a somewhat lower salary, then I would say go for it. I wouldn’t mind Thiaw staying either though.
I’m quite alright with Thiaw staying. He can still be a very good defender with a little improvement. Has all the right physical tools and is our best passing defender.
All good, although Leoni seems like a real talent that we should try to get. That said, Leoni’s already being over-hyped, so I think next stop will already be the PL for a ~50-60M transfer, probably in 2026.
Anyway, I have a feeling we’re going to end up in 3-5-2/3-4-1-2 at some point and Thiaw will likely duke it out with Gabbia for the CB role, with Pavlo at LCB and Tomori at RCB. Terraciano and Bartesaghi can cover those outside CB roles; Estupiñan and Salad as the LWBs, Doue/Singo and Jimenez as the RWBs; Jashari, Ricci, Fofana and RLC as the outside of the middle three in a 3-5-2, or the middle two in a 3-4-1-2; Modric as the regista in a 3-5-2 or sharing time with Pulisic as the playmaker in a 3-4-1-2; and then Leao plus Gimenez/Vlahovic up top. This solves for lack of depth at the wings in the event Okafor and Chukwueze depart, solves Modric defensive duties, solves Leao defensive duties, solves leaking goals and is the formation Allegri has used for the past decade. Not my favorite, but I think this is what’s going to happen.
I’ve always 3 back never worked well for Milan, and objectively so. But from the way things are going, I think that’s what we’ll end up with.

Yes and no. He doesn’t have the fullbacks that he wants, and playing with 3 CBs gave him extra cover. As we saw, Bartesaghi had a tough time handling Saka, etc. I don’t think we’ll really know until about a month or two into the season.

If you want to work on a system you work on it regardless. Preseason is precisely for that.
Please stop . Why on earth would we create a hole at center back? Why would it be Thiaw, not Pavlovic? Why would we waste time and resources on this when we desperately need a striker, a midfielder, and a right back? Unless we have a high quality replacement at Milanello right now, selling any center back is ridiculous.
Because this ownership and its management love to create problems where there are none.
best case scenario we can increase his value this season and sell him for a bigger amaount next year.
Thiaw probably looked around and thought why should I leave? I’m probably the best CB in this squad.
He by far the best with the ball at his feet.
Has a higher ceiling to reach than Gabbia, Tomori or Pavlovic.
He is comfortable in back 4 or back 3.
Gabbia’s home grown status means he has to stay in the squad. But that doesn’t mean he will be a starter unless his performances deserve it.
Tomori should be the one to sell if we want to invest in a new CB. IMO
I always find it funny when ppl talk about a players ceiling. How tf can you tell how good a player will be in the future? How can u tell how hard he is going to train, how determined he is, how much he will improve? How oh how can you tell the future.

If you’re not working professionally in the system. Then no you don’t know those things definitely.
But surely fans are entitled to have an opinion on what we see.
You are having a guess on how better you think a player can become.
All 4 milan central defenders (tomori, thiaw, pavlovic and gabbia) had their ups and downs last year but their performances reflected the work of 2 mediocre coaches milan had last year. So i think the 4 should remain for the coming season to prove their worth under a difensivista coach …….
We need a thiago silva, the only reason why we do not play european Football (was is just a Big shame for all the Management) is that we brought felix instead of a cb in winter

we don’t want Thiaw. but may be Allegri wants? even not many clubs interested him and Tomori. Leverkusen did not want to swap him for 32-year Xhaka. what’s does mean?

leave Thiaw…. I don’t think we can get Commuzzo or Leoni this summer. I wouldn’t change the defence except the fullbacks. Estupian might turn out to be good transfer but because he had a lot of muscle injuries we will need another lb as well….. unless Allegri thinks that Bartesaghi is ready for that role. For the RB position I would get one quality starter with Jimenez filling in the backup RB when needed
