Thiaw insists Milan ‘can’t wait to play’ at a ‘very famous stadium’

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw believes that he and his team-mates have prepared well to play at a ‘very famous stadium’ tomorrow night.

For Thiaw it is a homecoming of sorts given that he knows the area well and he represented Dortmund’s fierce rivals Schalke 04 for years, even making his first ever Bundesliga start against die Schwarzgelben.

The centre-back is expected to come back into the starting line-up having had a rest during the 2-0 win over Lazio on Saturday, with virtually every source reporting that he will partner up with Fikayo Tomori once again.

Thiaw spoke alongside head coach Stefano Pioli at the pre-match press conference on the eve of the game at the Signul Iduna Park, with his comments relayed by MilanNews and translated below.

What kind of an atmosphere will there be tomorrow?

“Very, very famous stadium. I played there, it’s a very well-known team. We prepared as best we could. There will be a great atmosphere, we can’t wait to play.”

What changes playing with Tomori compared to Kjaer?

“It’s fantastic to play with both of them. We can play with a three or two [man defence]. We have the right quality to help the team.”

You’ve already faced Borussia Dortmund with Schalke…

“I played with Schalke but behind closed doors. I will try to manage the game in the best possible way.”
