Malick Thiaw has praised Youssouf Fofana for his impact since arriving at AC Milan, and refused to answer a question regarding his favourite partner.
Milan got a much needed three points from their Lombardy neighbours Monza on Saturday night, beating them 1-0 at the U-Power Stadium thanks to a header from Tijjani Reijnders which came right at the end of the first half.
In truth Monza missed plenty of chances to take the lead themselves and were the better side in the opening 45 minutes. However, the important thing was to escape with the win and the clean sheet was an added boost given the concerns about the defensive department all season.
Thiaw spoke to DAZN after the game to give his thoughts on what was at times a tough evening but one that yielded three important points. MilanNews relayed his comments.
Your thoughts on the game?
“It was a difficult match and in 2-3 situations we were lucky, with Mike making a great save. But that’s football.”
Who do you feel best with in defence?
“For me, that’s a question I don’t want to answer. I like playing with everyone.”
How important is Fofana in front of you?
“Very important. He does an incredible job without the ball, he works for everyone, even for us in the back but also for those in front.”
