Thiaw withdraws from Germany duty as birth of his child is imminent

By Isak Möller -

Malick Thiaw has decided to withdraw from the Germany squad as his wife is expected to go into labour in the coming days. The AC Milan defender, as such, will remain in Milano during the international break.

Julian Nagelsmann included Thiaw in his squad for the upcoming friendlies against Turkey and Austria. However, the defender has rejected the call-up and will be replaced by Leipzig’s David Raum instead, as reported by SportFace.

The reason behind the defender’s decision is the imminent birth of his first child. The birth could take place in the coming days, per the report, and Thiaw thus decided to stay close to his wife. A wise decision from a wise man.

All of us at SempreMilan would like to wish Thiaw and his wife the best of luck! The centre-back will most likely have the rest of the week off, returning to Milanello next week for the pre-Fiorentina sessions.

It’s worth noting that those not called up for international duty have been given three days off. Training will thus resume on Wednesday and we could see some of the Primavera boys with the first team this week.
