With the January transfer window approaching, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are planning how to shape the squad for a very important second part of the season.
Calciomercato.com writes that the directors will have the mission of ‘thinning out’ the squad because Milan’s is among the largest in the league numbers-wise with 31 players, with far from all of them getting consistent playing time.
The primary objective is to find a solution with Chelsea for Tiemoue Bakayoko, who is yet to make a competitive appearance. Milan can no longer afford such a big salary for a player who has not played even a minute in Serie A in the first part of the season.
The Danish goalkeeper Andreas Jungdal will also go abroad on loan, while the Serbian striker Marko Lazetic could remain due to Divock Origi’s injury. Yacine Adli could also depart on loan depending on the offers that arrive.
The next few months will be Ciprian Tatarusanu’s last with the Rossoneri as the Romanian goalkeeper will say goodbye and Marco Sportiello will take his place. Aster Vranckx still has to convince Milan to buy him Wolfsburg for around €12m.
Meanwhile, for Sergino Dest it will depend on Barcelona’s ideas and without a substantial discount compared to the agreed €20m option to buy, the American will return to Spain. Also in the balance is Ante Rebic who has a high salary and is no longer performing as in his second season with the club.
Finally, Junior Messias could depart too if a good offer were to arrive, as Milan would take it into consideration and consider strengthening the right wing.
