Three more new players sign for AC Milan Women: All you need to know

By Steph Insixiengmay -

AC Milan announced three more signings for the women’s team today. The signings are Giorgia Spinelli, Caroline Rask, and Christy Grimshaw.

Giorgia Spinelli

AC Milan

The first signing is defender Giorgia Spinelli. Spinelli plied her trade in Stade de Reims in France before moving to Milan.

The Italy international is quite versatile as she can slot in as a centre-back or fill in on the flanks as a left-back.

Spinelli will give Milan many options going forward. She will also allow Milan to try out a few different formations, whether it’s experimenting with a 3-5-2 or continuing with their current 4-3-1-2 set-up. The defender will also provide much-needed relief to Milan’s starting left-back, Linda Tucceri Cimini, should she be rested for a few games.

Caroline Rask

AC Milan

The second signing is Danish midfielder, Caroline Rask. The midfielder comes to the team from Fortuna Hjørring in Denmark.

The midfielder has played a total of sixty games for the team and has scored one goal for them. She has also made four appearances for the team in the Champions League.

Rask also has international experience, as she has played for Denmark on both the youth and senior levels. Her experience will be a welcome addition to the team as she is a strong reinforcement for Milan’s midfield.

Christy Grimshaw

In what was perhaps the most anticipated announcement of the day, Milan have officially confirmed that they’ve signed Christy Grimshaw.

Grimshaw is a Scottish international who comes to Milan from FC Metz in France. The midfielder played a total of eight matches for the Division 1 Féminine side and scored one goal for them.

Grimshaw also has collegiate experience, as she played in the US at Barry University in Miami.

A scouting report on the midfielder described her as “the engine of the team” who “controls the game through the midfield”. Grimshaw can serve as a play-maker or find the goal herself. She is also described as a “great team leader” who is a stalwart both offensively and defensively.

The player will bring those much-desired characteristics to Milan’s midfield.

Milan has signed a total of six players so far this window. The players are Natasha Dowie, Laura Agard, Selena Babb, Giorgia Spinelli, Caroline Rask, and Christy Grimshaw.

They are the first of several players that will come to the Milan Women as they reinforce their squad in preparation for next season.

Look for more signings to be announced within the upcoming days.
