Milan red star

Timely Tammy and Fonseca’s fury: Milan left with doubts despite latest UCL win

AC Milan continued their good run in the Champions League with a 2-1 victory over Red Star at San Siro, their fourth in a row in the competitions.

Milan took the lead in the 42nd minute with a goal from Rafael Leão after a lovely ball over the top through Youssouf Fofana but the visitors levelled in the 67th minute through Nemanja Radonjić.

The home side kept fighting and regained control of the match with Tammy Abraham scoring the late winner in the 87th minute, and Francesco Camarda even had a hand by generating the rebound.

After a balanced start, injuries to Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Alvaro Morata forced the coach to switch up the tactical plan and disrupted the flow of the game, so to emerge with three points is still a positive.

Now, Milan have moved onto 12 points total in the standings, putting them at the top of the play-off zone and one step away from the direct qualification spaces.

Fonseca’s fury

It would be fair to say that Fonseca might need to try out Aviator to calm down given how furious he was after the game, ripping into the players at full-time.

“I’m a person who isn’t satisfied with just the result. Obviously the most important thing is that we won and that we are in a good position but that’s also it, some things seem difficult to change. I’m tired of struggling with these things, I’m not satisfied with the team’s performance,” he said.

“I know that I work every day to prepare the team, to do well. I don’t know if everyone in the team can say the same. We had the obligation to arrive today and do everything to win the match. And we didn’t do it.

“I have to talk to the team about what happened on the pitch. They also have to understand that this cannot happen.”
