TMW: Milan’s Serie A rival show interest in signing De Ketelaere

AC Milan playmaker Charles De Ketelaere is attracting interest from a Serie A side despite his disappointing first season, according to a report.

De Ketelaere’s first season at Milan has not gone to plan so far after the management invested over €30m to sign him from Club Brugge as the marquee signing of the last summer transfer window, the one that came after the Scudetto win.

Only a fantastic season finale would force reflections on how his first season has been given that he has so far amassed zero goals and one assist in Serie A, yet there are still teams in Italy that are very attentive to the Belgian.

According to TMW, Atalanta are interested in De Ketelaere in view of next season, with their head coach Gian Piero Gasperini having often proved to be a real specialist in recovering players who haven’t had a good time of things.

    1. This is not a certainty. I hope it isn’t, because it gives us some leverage with them for the acquisition of their players. I think CDK’s priority will be to be getting minutes. Atalanta is a good team with a proven record of developing young talent. They still have a chance of playing in the Conference League if Inter win the Coppa Italia, so there may be European football. This could be a good solution for all parties if Milan can either get good money from them for CDK or offer CDK plus cash for someone like Scalvini or Hojlund.

      1. ACM dont need scalvini unless they sell tomori or kalulu with 50-60m euro . ACM urgent need striker, maybe rasmuss can be swap with CDK + 10m euro cash

        1. Man United want Hojlund, we can’t afford him, he’s probably €60+ million already. CDK + €40 million might get him.

          1. Maybe. But I have a feeling there are going to be a number of strikers on the move this summer. For instance, Harry Kane will have a year left on his contract and that seems like a player United may want over Hojlund. Hojlund is still a work in progress and I think United are looking for more guarantees.

  1. To give up after one bad season for a kid that can score and assist while being flexible in terms of postions on the field he can play would be a monumental failure.

If Atalanta see potential in him, given their track record with scouting and developing players, odds are we need to give CDK more time before sending him to a jury then approving a transfer to a local rival.

He had to adjust to a new culture, be away from home country for the first time in his life over an extended period of time. New team, new league etc that can cause a culture shock nad a lot of changes within a short period of time that would hinder anyone’s ability to function optimally within that buffer time. We need to give him more time, doing otherwise would be foolish. Players, young ones especially are humans, not robots, they need time to adapt. He should come good in due time.

    1. I don’t think there is a comparison. Rafa’s talent, and Theo’s for that matter, was obvious from the beginning. Consistency was their issue, and it still is for Leao to a certain degree. I have seen precious little from CDK to imply that he will have the same progression. I could be wrong of course, but I’m just going by what I’ve seen so far.

      1. Yeah agree. I dont see CDK can get in pioli formation 4231 . Pioli try him as AMF but he confuse, pioli put him as RW but he is weak on drible ,dont have speed and weak on crossing. The best position for CDK in brugges are CF ,thats hard in ACM because pioli want bigman muscular strong at aerial duel as CF
