TMW: Daniel Maldini to join Monza for very small fee – the details of the deal

AC Milan have made the decision to sell Daniel Maldini and they have agreed a deal with Monza meaning he will return there, according to a report.

Maldini went on loan to Empoli last season until January and then went to Monza where he did much better, scoring four goals in 11 appearances, and despite impressing in the first preseason friendly it has always been reported that he is free to leave.

According to TMW, Maldini is heading back to Monza but this time permanently. In recent days their CEO Adriano Galliani closed the agreement with Milan and he will soon undergo a medical there before signing his contract.

The 22-year-old will head to the U-Power Stadium for an ‘almost minimal’ fee, but Milan however will be able to count on a generous resale clause. More specifically, they will pocket 50% of any money that Monza get if and when they sell him.

There will of course be an added emotional aspect to his departure given the weight his surname carries, but Maldini is at an age where he needs regular starts. Milan meanwhile have plenty of options on both wings and in the playmaker spot, meaning he would remain on the fringes.
