TMW: Milan begin talks over Arsenal defender but meet resistance – the latest

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have rekindled their interest in Jakub Kiwior ahead of the January transfer window but they will have to hope Arsenal change their stance, according to a report.

TMW confirm that Milan are chasing a centre-back and they do like Kiwior, but on the other hand the management do not have a large budget available for the winter mercato and the former Spezia man cost Arsenal €25m when they signed him back in January.

The Gunners made the decision to bring forward his signing by six months to beat the competition and ensure that Kiwior can slowly adapt to the Premier League, but so far he has only made two starts this season.

It must also be said that it is difficult to oust Gabriel Magalhaes, one of this Arsenal’s key starters, from the left-sided centre-back position. Despite this, at the moment the London club have not yet decided whether to let him go in January, especially on loan with an option to buy.

Selling him would mean returning to the market and it is not necessarily easy to find a replacement at a better price, so for now Arsenal have decided not to open up to the possible sale of Kiwior. A lot will depend on the next few weeks and how Mikel Arteta uses the Pole.

There has been some contact in the last few hours, but for now it appears only as a possibility examined and not endorsed by Arsenal. Things will become clearer before the new year.

    1. There’s something very very wrong with him. He’s italian. And Milan are on the biggest anti-italian kick we’ve ever seen.
