TMW: Milan the ‘great rival’ to Barcelona in Gundogan race – talks underway with agents

By Oliver Fisher -

Another source have come forward claiming that AC Milan are hoping to sign Ilkay Gundogan from Manchester City on a free transfer.

According to Giacomo Iacobellis of TMW, Milan are currently the ‘great rival’ of Barcelona in the race to sign Gundogan, who is a major target for the Catalan side in view of the summer transfer window.

The Rossoneri have already contacted the entourage of the Germany international, and dream of a top signing to reinforce Stefano Pioli’s midfield options, especially with Ismael Bennacer out for six months.

The player will answer after the Champions League final next weekend in Istanbul, with his full focus for the time being on beating Inter and getting City their first European Cup.

Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) reported this morning that Milan have thrown their hats into the ring in the Gundogan sweepstakes and are even at an advanced stage in negotiations with the 32-year-old midfielder.

  1. If it happens, not a bad signing. But I would still prefer him plus Kamada in our ranks. If Ilkay means sacrificing Kamada, then it will be a no.

    1. He would be a free transfer , just agreement on personal terms required. Gundo, Kamada and RLC would complete our midfield then we can send money on a striker and RW.

  2. huge signing if it happens. One of the best midfielders in the world scores 10+ goals every season, clutch for city an their most important after haaland and kdb. Between him and kamada not a contest
