AC Milan’s chances of renewing Alessio Romagnoli appear to be quite complicated at the moment for a number of reasons, a report claims.
TMW have given an update on the situation surrounding Romagnoli, starting by remarking that he is the second-highest paid player in the squad today. Back in 2018 he signed an agreement when his agent was not yet Mino Raiola but Sergio Berti, and that extension provided for an incremental pay rise to the current €6m net per season he earns and a new deadline of June 2022.
For more than a year now Milan have adopted a policy of trying to lower the wage bill and giving players a salary they feel they are deserving of, even if this has meant the likes of Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu left and Franck Kessie could do the same.
Milan have not yet formulated an offer for Romagnoli, who would be happy to remain, but the Rossoneri intend to present a renewal offer at half the current amount starting with a base even lower than half. The ball will pass to the player who is waiting for the offer.
