TMW: Milan not only pushing for Onana – €8m Strasbourg midfielder is a target

By Oliver Fisher -

Just as it looked as though AC Milan had settled on the signing of Jean Onana from Bordeaux a new name is gaining momentum, a report claims.

TMW report that while there is speculation about very concrete interest in Onana of Bordeaux, the club are also pressing for Ibrahima Sissoko of Strasbourg.

The French midfielder has a valuation close to €8m and has a contract expiring in June 2024. He has attracted the interest of Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara after a recommendation from chief scout Geoffrey Moncada, who knows the French market well.

Now 24, Sissoko has represented France up until U21 level and is of Malian descent. He was in the youth system of Brest from 2014-18 before moving on to Strasbourg where he has been since, and last season he racked up 35 appearances in Ligue 1 for the Alsace club, scoring two goals.

Predominantly a defensive midfielder, Sissoko has also played as a centre-back at times in his young career.

  1. why do we need this guy??? I don’t think he is much better than Pobega, who looks to sit on the bench for all season long.
We need more quality in the attacking department…

  2. RW is missing, second game against atalanta clearly showed that!!!! easy win with impact on the ride side, but we had, like whole last season ZERO IMPACT on RW. Really love CDK but if we do not bring a RW it was clueless.

If we change to 4-3-3 the attacking profiles would fit better, but i guess not the defense profiles, Calabria in 4-3-3 systems could be a huge problem…also kessie recplacment then is highly needed.

    1. True about a 4-3-3 but I think Calabria deficiencies are overblown. Ppl always are critical for his lack of offensive out put but his coverage and willingness to say back is what allows Theo to go forward. He is getting pretty good in one on ones (defensively) and typically delivers better crosses than Messias and Saelemaekers (not saying much). I think just trying Diaz as RW in the current system would be worth while. At worst he’s a shorter faster weaker Messias but on the wing Diaz may find more winnable attacking situations.

  3. It is hard to believe that Milan will make a significant addition by the end of this window. That’s sad yet very true. Lacking the cash there will be no RW. Let’s hope we can end top 4 this year. Inter are favourites. Napoli is impressive. Juventus is Juventus

    1. Pls Keep your pessimism in your torn jeans.
We didn’t conquer last season cause we had the best platters every department, but cause we were a team, everyone played for eachother.
Real Madrid didn’t win the champions League cause they had the best squad, but cause of same team spirit.
This year is gonna be better

  4. That is what we are resigned to….going aftervyping cheap players on expiring deals…fantastic by ownership lol. Can’t wait till we sell Leao and the owners pocket the $
