TMW: Milan table contract offer to FC Köln star with decision expected soon

By Oliver Fisher -

Another name has come forward in AC Milan’s pursuit of midfield depth in Ellyes Skhiri, who could even reportedly arrive on a free transfer.

According to TMW, Milan have put an offer forward for Skhiri whose contract with FC Köln will expire at the end of the month. He is seen as a real opportunity, given that many clubs – including Roma – have put him in their sights.

Milan’s appeal is higher at the moment, but Crystal Palace have also made a bid and Skhiri asked for time to think about the two offers, because playing in England is the dream of all footballers but on the other hand the Rossoneri have Champions League football.

The decision was postponed until his return from the national team, with answer expected in the next few days after Tunisia’s game against Algeria tonight.

Milan have put on the table a three-year contract worth €2m net per year plus the option for a fourth year. The 28-year-old scored seven goals in the Bundesliga last season, all from midfield.

  1. I said this and I say it again, if our competitor is Crystal Palace or mid table prem, then something is not right with his talent. But for free, WHY NOT? we can always get capital gain for JerryCan’s pocket next season if he doesn’t perform.

    1. Maybe that’s what we can afford? We can’t compete with Man Utd or City for instance so …. we’re in the Everton-Leeds range

    2. If we are competing with Palace, coming to the conclusion that there is something wrong with the player is incorrect – the main worry should be that Palace will offer much higher wages, and we wont get the player however good or bad he is.

Palace were able to offer Zaha £200k a week to stay, which he hasnt accepted yet.

  2. Haha I thought the same. If they are the only ones interested then maybe he isn’t really our thing. We were basically top 4 in Europe last season. Not 11th in PL…

  3. He’s from my country and I love Milan, I can tell you he could be a really good sub, he runs like hell (record distance in bundesliga), he’s good with short passes, physically strong, reminds me of Matic only right footed. Only saying he might be a good solution for some tough games where you wanna press and hold the ball

  4. 2 weeks ago I posted a list of free players and I wrote that Milan will sign this guy in the end. I was really hoping I am wrong but…

    1. I mean he is pretty good, will be great cover when we need to defend and will add much needed physicality to the midfield. Much better than vranx and bakayoko, at least right now.

      1. I wouldn’t say very good, more like an average player, nothing special, every team needs a few. But he is a good free signing for DM, when we need a player like him, better than spending on Hjolmund or a different player like that when the club has no transfer funds. But Milan needs another good midfielder.
