TMW: Milan’s two main striker targets outlined with substantial investment planned

By Oliver Fisher -

One of the signings that AC Milan have to make during the upcoming summer transfer window is a centre-forward, and there are a couple of names that stand out.

Niccolò Ceccarini, the editor in chief of TMW, spoke about Milan’s transfer strategies in his editorial this morning. He confirms that the plan is to invest in a striker, even if Olivier Giroud is doing very well and Luka Jovic has shown promising signs.

The identikit is a young centre-forward who can provide a guarantee of continuity over time in terms of goals, with two objectives standing out above all.

Joshua Zirkzee is the first and he has the advantage of already being adjusted to Serie A, with nine goals and four assists in 26 league games, while Bologna are aware that it will not be easy to keep him.

From an economic point of view, it must also be considered that when Bologna signed him from Bayern Munich they agreed to a 40 percent resale clause. Milan consider him an ideal profile to build the team of the future around.

The second name is Benjamin Sesko. At present he has 20 games in the Bundesliga with seven goals to his credit. RB Leipzig paid almost €30m to sign him from Salzburg and therefore to think about a sale they must receive a bid above €40m.

Also not to be forgotten is Jonathan David of Lille, whose contract expires in June 2025 and for this reason he could still be attractive.

  1. Bologna have 40% resale clause. Smart job is to take Saelemaekers, and maybe Colombo, and to sell him for less price. Maybe 20 million, and in that way they will avoid paying Bayern big part of resale.
