TMW: Milan want Brazilian playmaker and offer four-year €6m deal – the background

AC Milan have set their sights on Porto playmaker Otavio ahead of the summer transfer window, according to a report.

As TMW reports, Otavio Edmilson da Silva Monteiro – known simply as Otavio Monteiro – is a player that the Rossoneri management have set their sights on. Not only that, but the report claims Milan have offered him a four-year deal worth €1.5million net per season.

Born in Joao Pessoa in Brazil on February 9 1995, Otavio came through the academy of Internacional in Porto Alegre, the same club where Alexandre Pato made his name. In the summer of 2014 he joined Porto and a loan spell at Vitoria Guimaraes followed.

For them he played 38 games and scored seven goals, and he returned to Porto where he immediately became a starter because of his excellent technique, speed and great creativity, but in his career he often lacked consistency.

He can play as an attacking midfielder, right winger or left winger and wherever you play him he does his job well. He has scored just 17 goals in 166 matches with Porto, but given that he is a free transfer opportunity it is not surprising that Milan are sniffing around.
