TMW: Milan’s stance on free agent signing of ex-Juventus striker Mandzukic outlined

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are not currently interested in a move for free agent striker Mario Mandzukic contrary to speculation, it is claimed.

There have been rumours doing the rounds suggesting that the Rossoneri could look to sign a deputy to Zlatan Ibrahimovic given the doubts over whether 18-year-old Lorenzo Colombo can fill that role plus that fact Ante Rebic and Rafael Leao prefer playing on the left wing.

According to the latest from TMW though, the rumours about the Rossoneri’s interest in Mario Mandzukic (we’re not sure exactly which rumours they are referring to) have been immediately extinguished.

The veteran Croatian centre-forward is of no interest to the Milan management and he does not fit the identikit of player that the club would look to recruit.

Milan will therefore remain the same in the forward department until January, when the management will then make further assessments on whether a new striker is needed.

One thing is for sure though: Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the first choice and anyone who did come in would be a complimentary piece.

  1. Would be nice to get Pato on a free. I think he would be okay for a backup to Ibra and we can bring back the partnership which won our last Scudetto – so it is a bit romantic.
