TMW: Newcastle see €30m+ offer for Milan midfielder rejected with Everton also keen

Newcastle have seen an initial offer rejected for AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie, a report claims, with a Premier League rival also keen.

According to TMW, the Milan of the future will be a youth-oriented team based on players 24 and under with a sustainable salary ceiling of around €2.5m per player per year.

Franck Kessie fits all of these conditions, however the report claims that Ivorian could still be sold for the right price, with no contract renewal in sight plus the fact they would be able to command a sizeable fee.

Everton and Newcastle have made enquiries to understand if the player would be interested in a move, with the Toffees in particular chasing a midfielder but having not yet made any proposals. On the other hand, the Magpies have proposed the idea of a €5million loan plus a option to buy at around the €25-30m mark. The offer was rejected.

Kessie is a profile that would be perfect for Napoli boss Gennaro Gattuso, who bet a lot on the former Atalanta man during his time in charge at Milan.

He would possibly be the perfect replacement if Allan’s sale were to go through, but it remains to be seen if his salary requests are compatible.
