CM: Strong display from Tomori and Kalulu the highlight for Milan against Inter

In a game without goals under the lights of San Siro, it is natural to take a look at the defensive department and to praise AC Milan’s resilience.

Calciomercato.com report how Milan put in a strong performance against their city rivals and certainly could not be accused of playing the game in a half-hearted way, playing the better football but failing to find a way past the excellent trio of Bastoni-Skriniari-De Vrij.

Not having conceded an away goal in the first leg is very much a bonus and the best news of the evening was the performance of Fikayo Tomori, who made several vital interventions to put any notion of post-injury struggles behind him.

The English defender cancelled Lautaro with disarming ease and restored some confidence to a defensive department that seems to have become the team’s Achilles heel in early 2022.

However, Alessio Romagnoli was forced off in the 25th minute of the first half due to groin issue but Pierre Kalulu came on and put in a confident display that we have now become used to. Matteo Gabbia is not the only alternative though, which will worry Pioli.
