SM: Tomori facing late fitness test and could miss Spurs game – the latest

By Oliver Fisher -

There are concerns that defender Fikayo Tomori might not be fit enough to start tonight’s game against Spurs in the Champions League.

According to what our colleagues at SempreMilan.it are reporting, there are some doubts regarding the physical condition of Tomori, who has returned from injury and has been included in Stefano Pioli’s squad for tonight’s match against Tottenham.

The tests that will take place in the late afternoon will be fundamental to establish whether the English centre-back will be able to start the match from the first minute, but if he cannot them one of Simon Kjaer and Matteo Gabbia should get the nod.

Pierre Kalulu and Malick Thiaw are virtually certain of a spot in the three-man defence, meaning Pioli what not need to make a major re-shuffle hours before the game in the event Tomori is not able to play against an opponent he knows well from his time in England.

  1. Ugh. Kjaer for Tomori is a downgrade, and Gabbia for Tomori is a major downgrade. Then there is the chance that Tomori starts and needs to come off within 15 minutes, having aggravated the injury and then having to miss even more time.
