CM.it: Tomori’s Milan future in doubt – Juventus, Newcastle and Aston Villa linked

AC Milan are willing to listen to offers for Fikayo Tomori who has now found himself out of the first choice starting line-up, a report claims.

According to Calciomercato.it, all the signs suggest that the head coach Paulo Fonseca seems to want to persist with a pairing of Matteo Gabbia and Malick Thiaw, who played from the first minute against Juventus and Empoli in the two recent clean sheets.

Gabbia is one of the leaders of the side and his renewal is proof of how much Milan and Fonseca believe in him. The German, on the other hand, was good at taking advantage of Gabbia’s absence and has played his way back into the team.

That means that Tomori, for now, is having to try and make the most of opportunities when the pairing is rotated. The issue is that he and Strahinja Pavlovic as a duo have the worst record of any combination used, and most recently let in two goals against Slovan Bratislava.

The Englishman’s season continues to be full of ups and downs so there is an increasing feeling that he could be departing in the coming months. In the summer, Milan wanted a figure of around €30m to let him go, but now they could settle for a bit less.

Juventus are carefully monitoring the situation, but Newcastle United, Aston Villa and West Ham are in the mix too. A move back to the Premier League may well appeal to Tomori, who will no doubt still have England aspirations too.

    1. 25-30 is less than what we paid… 35M at least

I would bring Scalvini as Thiaw is the only CB we have that can pass… 2 “old school” and 2 tall passers would give a good balanced defense. It also frees up international spot that we can use to get Frendrup and Tomiyasu. Add Parisi and Fagioli/Ricci and I think the squad is done.

OUT: Calabria, Florenzi, Jimenez(loan), RLC, Tomori, Jovic

IN: Scalvini, Fagioli (Kalulu swap + money)/Ricci (contract until 2026), Parisi (Adli swap), Frendrup (Genoa too broke to not accept 20-23M), Tomiyasu (contract until 2026), Camarda (promote permanently)

  1. If Milan sells tomori, they will regret it, most fans that want tomori out are same that want Thaw out, want Musah out, want Rafael out, want Chukwueze out, want Kalulu out but will come back crying after one season.

    1. Rimp – spot on. If milan ever sell Tomori to Juventus, i will abandon milan and start siding with inter. To send kalulu to juve was a crime …. to send tomori to juve will be diabolic.

      1. I would sell him but not to Juve. The challenge is that since management will not spend >25M on a player, it is tough to find an upgrade on this market. He may not be nearly the same quality he was for hist first 1.5 years, but its tough to gamble on yet another CB of the same level and be surprised if there’s an upside. I’d sell him and Pavlovic for a single top quality CB tho…

  2. It seems he and Fonseca must have fallen out.
He certainly should be ahead of Pavlovic in the pecking order. No reason he shouldn’t get plenty of minutes.

I think Fonseca is still mad at him for being the ringleader of the penalty mutiny.
Lets not forget before his injury this time last year, he had been amazing! Prob the best he ever played. So let’s help him find form.
Good defenders are hard to find and to integrate, we don’t need anymore Kalulu situations

I was against selling Kalulu and Thiaw in summer (despite many experts here saying they were trash and injury prone, dejan10).

Keep the players who have shown great talent and get rid of the ones who have not, it shouldn’t be hard.
Bennacer will return and be a huge addition to our midfield (despite the hate here)

Its the likes of Emerson, Chucky and RLC who have never looked good enough

    1. Fonseca is mad at Tomori. 😂😂
Tomori is the most used CB this season.
The hell are people even talking about?
Just running their mouths for the sake of saying something.

      1. Your not really one for simple truths are you?

In the 6 league games since the penalty mutiny, he started 0 games.
He had 2 sub appearances for a combined 11 minutes

Before that incident he started 6 of 7 league games.

        Thats quite a difference

        1. Difficult to provide arguments on this forum when you contextualize things. I haven’t seen Tomori start in a long time esp since the incident..that he has minutes based on before is irrelevant. Just like Theo being “rested”

          1. There are some people here who just want to create animosity.

I don’t like to see any player falling out of favour and Tomori is still very important to us. Still he behaved poorly and the manager needs to assert authority.

Id like to see tomori, Thiaw and Gabbia rotate at CB, and give Pavlovic minutes at LB. Theo needs rest and Pavlovic will be less of a liability there, he also needs minutes to improve

        2. Exactly. I’d like to see more Tomori too. He’s been good when he’s got. Very excellent at that too. Him Gabbia and Thiaw as you said, with solid games together for a while too.

        3. But then why would Fonseca trust Tomori to play in the UCL against the likes of Real Madrid, Club Brugges or Slovan then?

Fonseca also benched Leao for the month of December. What does that imply eh?

Nobody remember we drew against Torino on the opening match because Thiaw did an Own Goal (stupidly dribbling the ball back into his own net), and Pavlovic and Theo failed to defend against Zapata?

Or how Parma was lost because BOTH of the goals were poorly defended by Theo?

Even the Sassuolo match. Terracciano failed to mark his man and cut out a pass, and Torriani failed to save a shot at his NEAR POST for Fooks sake. But no, blame Tomori for causing a minor deflection of the ball. THAT was the cause of the goal.

Milan fans are dumb, Last year it was “Thiaw Sucks”, the year before it was “Kalulu sucks”, the year before that “Kjaer sucks”, and then before that “Romagnoli Sucks”. Y’all just like to cheer for the flavor of the moment and need someone to be a scapegoat.
          Disgusting behavior.

  3. Tomori’s defending has not improved. Still makes rash tackles and decisions. And he’s older than Thiaw. Makes sense why Fonseca wants to integrate the German more.

I don’t know that any of these rumors are true given Fonseca is rotating so much to get these CB’s to a point of plug’n’play.

  4. I have been saying this since 2022.
His mentality on the pitch is too weak.
He loses his cool very easily. Stupid tackles, unnecessary faults and cards, screaming at his teammates. Whenever he faces some strong striker, he loses his sh*t.
The most importantly, he never learns from his mistakes, never. Always doing the same mistakes again and again.

SELL this guy to Premier League before his stock goes down to 10 million.

  5. Italian media don’t listen to interviews it seems.
Gabbia stated himself that Fonseca is looking at Milan’s CBs as a Quartet, not just “Top two pairing”.

Italian papers pushing their agenda way too hard here.

    1. And immediatly the knuckleheads in here turn against him and want to sell and make up stories about drama.

Its like a reality show in here sometimes, worst drama than on Jersey Shore.

  6. We blame the coach for inconsistency, and most of us would not even come close to agreeing on which are the first 11 in the team! A month or two ago, Thiaw was the on-call culprit for everything in bad defense, and now they are already soaping the Tomori bench !

  7. Imagine we actually got 30M€ for him. And compare that to the ~40M€ Napoli paid for Buongiorno. That is insane. But now that I think about it more, there is no way anyone would pay 30M€ for him. So we’d probably get “Emerson Royal money” for him. Which would also be insane. Tomori still is 100x the player Emerson ever will be.
