AC Milan remain in talks over the extension of Fikayo Tomori’s contract, but they are not close to handshakes just yet.
Tomori is now one of the veterans at Milan even though he might not like to admit it, having surpassed 200 appearances for the club relatively recently. The English defender is the second-most capped player in the squad (206), surpassed only by Rafael Leao with 283.

In his first year and a half at the club, Tomori became one of the bedrocks of the Stefano Pioli side that would go on and win the league title. Now, after a bit of fluctuating form, the former Chelsea man seems to be back to his near-best under Massimiliano Allegri in a three-man back line.
Close, but not there yet
On his YouTube channel, Matteo Moretto provided updates on the negotiations between Milan and Tomori over a contract extension. As a reminder, his current deal runs out at the end of next season, and MilanNews transcribed the journalist’s words.
“Tomori’s contract expires in 2027. Talks about his renewal are ongoing and have been going on for some time, in fact they started at the end of August, beginning of September. Tomori is very happy in Milan and at AC Milan, and his desire is to continue with the Rossoneri,” he said.
“It’s true that AC Milan wants to renew him, it’s true that negotiations have been going on for some time and are, I wouldn’t say close to being concluded because there are still some steps missing, but they are well set up. The truth, however, is that some steps are missing.
“There are meetings to be held before the signatures can be signed. When we get closer to this, we’ll tell you about it, but today the optimism remains, Milan’s desire to renew Tomori and the player’s desire to stay with the Rossoneri. When everything is completed, we’ll update you.”

Management: It’s cheaper just to renew him since Max can make him work.
Eh he’s by no means the best defender, even on Milan but he’s solid enough to be part of the rotation. If his contract is reasonable then no problem with the renewal.

Milan’s defensive record is solid. Only in the twilight zone anyone would recommend dismantling it. Thankfully, Milan management and Allegri are smart enough to lock down a good player and ignore the nonsense. Milan should keep all of our CBs and add 2 more in the summer.
