Tomori says Milan aim to start game ‘better’ as Atalanta ‘are a strong team’

By Isak Möller -

Ahead of the clash between Atalanta and AC Milan, scheduled to kick off in less than 30 minutes, Fikayo Tomori spoke to the media. After two goals conceded in the opener, he will want to keep a clean sheet.

The Englishman started the season well and wasn’t responsible for the two goals Milan conceded against Udinese. Nevertheless, as a defender, it was a failure especially considering how well the Rossoneri did clean-shgeet-wise last season.

Speaking to DAZN and MilanTV, as cited by MilanNews, Tomori shared his thoughts on what will be a difficult away game against Atalanta tonight. He made it clear that the Rossoneri expect a tough encounter.

Last season’s clash was a very intense one, are you expecting another duel like that?

“Yes, they are a strong team. We expect a match like last season. We have to play at our best to win.”

What is the match plan?

“We try to start every game strong, we didn’t do it last week but we won. Today we want to start better, we are ready and focused. We hope to win.”

Clean sheet objective…

“Not just me, Mike, Pierre, Theo, all the defenders and the whole team want this. We are focused on the defensive phase, the most important thing for the team and for us are the three points.”

What did the coach tell you?

“We know they are strong, they run a lot, we have to be ready. I can’t wait to start the game.”

On Zapata…

“He is very strong (Duvan, we must be ready for the 1v1s, they are strong. Not only him, but also Muriel and Lookman.”

City rivals Inter claimed their second win of the season last night and pressure is thus on Milan to do the same this evening. Their form is positive and the injury situation bodes well, with almost everyone available for this clash.
