Tonali’s agent sheds light on joining Newcastle from AC Milan: “Very difficult for him”

Sandro Tonali’s agent has shed some light on how difficult it was for the midfielder to leave his boyhood club AC Milan.

Tonali became a club-record £100m signing for Tottenham a few weeks ago, joining from Newcastle United. It’s been over three years now since he left for England, much to the dismay of fans who believed Milan had found a legend they could hold on to for a long time.

A lot of time has passed since that summer but it remains a hot topic for those who follow Milan, especially because there will probably be talk of a return to the Rossoneri until it materialises or until he retires, whichever comes first.

The subject was recently brought up again by the player’s agent, Beppe Riso. He spoke on the Colpi da Maestro podcast about Tonali’s transfer from Milan to Newcastle, with his words relayed by MilanNews.

“We had the feeling that Milan was different. I know Milan well, and it didn’t give me the feeling of the historic Milan. Speaking with Sandro, we discussed moving to the Premier League, it was a challenge that fascinated him,” he said.

“He had the courage because he was one of the most important players and had won a Scudetto. He had the courage to leave, he was a visionary. Was it difficult? Very difficult for him, extremely difficult. In the first few weeks, I saw him sad, but then he took the measure and imposed himself as always.”

    1. His agent has been proven 100% correct.
We won the league, got taken over by Gerry.
They let M&M contracts run out at the end of June, therfore delaying any mercato and then gave them peanuts to spend.

The way Gerry and co conducted themselves from there on it is no wonder Tonali and his agent smelled a rat and left.
      Again they were 100% right

      1. Two out of three were good buys. Wasn’t Chuck also bought at the same time? My point is in part that people romanticize players thinking they are like fans. The love of the team overrides their career and finances. No, no, no. TJ is one of the few who was honest in saying he went to Saudi Arabia for the money. Of course there are exceptions, but Tonali going to Spurs shows he’s driven by money.

      2. Loftus-Cheek🤣

And go check again our standings and statistics from the past 3 seasons. Were we better off after his sale and money spent?

        1. “If only these clowns spent the money from your sale properly”

The money from his sale was spent properly. 2 players better than Tonali were bought and RLC scored 10 goals in his 1st season at Milan. Milan improved with the money from Tonali’s sale, check the standings 23 to 24 season.
Other money were not spent properly after that. The money from Tonali sale were properly spent. Nice try from you to move the goals post because you were wrong.
Check the standings and statistics of the teams Tonali was and is on since leaving Milan. Are they out of the relegation zone?

          1. Tonali, not only the degenerate gambler as some like to call him but now also a relegation zone culprit I see.

And 23/24 was the season we booked a new club record – 49 goals conceded in 38 matches. What an improvement!

        2. I mean he was suspended for betting on games and he is on a team that is 20th in the league by being 1 of the worst players on the team so far.
In 23/24 Milan gave up 6 more goals than the previous year when Tonali was on the team, but Milan also scored 12 more goals than the previous year. In 23/24 Milan scored more goals than any other year for at least a decade.
Milan had 5 more points in 23/24 than in 22/23.
Milan finished 2nd in 23/24 compared to 5th on 22/23.
          Do you see the improvement?
          Italian Musah

      3. Lets be clear we signed Musah, RLC and Reijnders – these were the midfielders bought with his money, therefore the only relevant players.

        1 good 2 sh1t.

Guess what we still have the 2 sh1t
