Sandro Tonali’s AC Milan faith is well known, and a report has claimed that he has his heart set on returning one day.
Tonali’s farewell to his boyhood club in the summer of 2023 was certainly one of the saddest moments in recent years for the Rossoneri fans. The reason is very simple: the midfielder has never hidden the fact that he is a Milanista, so it felt like one of their own leaving.
As MilanNews write, the midfielder himself also suffered greatly after his transfer to Newcastle which happened so quickly, but in his heart he knows that ‘sooner or later he will return to Milan’.
A bond to be renewed
Although his career is continuing to flourish elsewhere – given that he is regarded as one of the best in his position in a top league like the Premier League – there is still a yearning desire to one day come back ‘home’.
Yesterday, Tonali scored the decisive goal in Italy’s victory over Northern Ireland, and post-match he said it was the most important goal of his life, along with the one he scored for Milan against Lazio in the Scudetto-winning year.
In past interviews, Tonali has often spoken fondly of Milan and has never hidden the fact that he continues to support the club even though he now plays overseas. Obviously, he can’t say it openly, but in his mind, he’s convinced that sooner or later his future will be at Milan again.
Right now, a return is impossible because his transfer fee is unaffordable for any Italian club, but the feeling is that he’ll try to return to Milan because his connection to the club is too strong.
The fans will undoubtedly welcome him back with open arms, hopefully in the not too distant future, and maybe even with the captain’s armband available.

No chance of him coming back to Milan; he’s way over the £35m threshold that Milan’s dodgy far-right Trump-loving hedge fund are prepared to pay for any player.
I miss the days of Berlusconi; at least he was an honest and straightforward neo-Nazi crook.
Me for one feels, we have let ourselves down, if we still Tonali,Rijnders and Theo, we would have the best squad in seria a, but no had to let them go due to our management, did we really profit from those deals, I have grave doubts that we did
Agreed. I don’t really see how Milan improves massively by selling one star and buying 2 mediocre players as replacements. Occassionally we will have the odd chance of signing world class players through advantageous circumstances, but otherwise we never relaly improve on or match the quality of those we sell. So why do it??
I guess missing Champions League meant that one big sale was needed, but we basically spent all that money and then some, which means we might as well have kept everyone and then added Modric & Rabiot for little money
Reijnders and Pulisic were bought with the money from Tonali’s sale, what mediocre players?
The jury is still out on the player bought with the money from Reijnders sale.
Reijnders wanted to leave. Players want to leave Milan and serie A to play in a better league.
Rabiot was signed by circumstance. He was a free agent last season when Milan had Theo and Reijnders, Milan wanted him but he chose to play in the French league instead of coming to Milan. If he didn’t get in a fight with his teammate in Marseille he would still be there.
Modric is 40 year old who wanted to stay at Madrid but they wanted to move on from him.
Milan had 40 millions of budget before selling Tonali therefore they already had Reijnders and Puli covered. They sold Tonali and brought RLC as his replacement, he even took his #8 shirt. And since it wasn’t enough, they thought they should get Musah too lmao.
I agree 100%.
Dude. Your hate for a politician is probably destroying your life. Maybe, let that go and you’ll feel better.
As for Tonali, he’ll be back someday. Maybe on a free though.
And I dislike our current owners.
A lot of English speaking Milan forums are being filled with politics. It’s a shame.
Who said he can’t be back on a free?
Whats Trump and the “far right” got to do with Tonali coming back? 😂
Off your meds again. Save the TDS for the proper forums.
Oliver, he’s not coming back. Dream on.
Yes he will back at 35 at end of playing
Love tonali man….
We get these types of news every international break
He will be back someday as milan scout. Relax bro. No rush… He had good performance at Newcastle. Let him go …
I love Tonali but this is click bait. Tonali is willing to leave Newcastle United, but not for a return to Italy. He aims at transferring to a more successful EPL team. If Sandro ever comes back to Italy, it will be several years down the road, and it’s not even guaranteed that it will be to AC Milan. Sure, he is lifetime milanista, but he is also a professional footballer who must evaluate wage offers and choose what is best for him and for his family. He will continue to root for AC Milan but it doesn’t mean that he will necessarily play again for AC Milan. Well, I hope he does because I love Sandro, but at this stage, it’s just wishful thinking.
These articles that are popping up everywhere, have to do with Italy’s triumph against Northern Ireland, with a golazo by Sandro who was one of the best players on the pitch. So now every journalist in search of clicks is posting some hint that Sandro will be back. That’s not something that Sandro himself has been saying. Merely, when asked about it in interviews, he signals, diplomatically, that it is something to be considered, for the future. In my reading, he means the remote future.
Luigi, come on bro, stop using common sense. As the first commenter said, it’s all Trump’s fault we sold him in the first place and I blame you for him not coming back.
