Sandro Tonali was one of the stand-out performers for AC Milan during their 4-0 win against Napoli as he showed all of his capabilities in both phases.
La Gazzetta dello Sport recall how Tonali was in the front row of protagonists during the crushing win over Luciano Spalletti’s side, but now attentions turn to Empoli where a difficult game is expected against a side that beat Inter at San Siro three months ago.
The present tells us that Tonali is back to his usual levels as he overshadowed his opposite number Anguissa both in recovering the ball and starting attacking plays. His best moment in the second half, when he snatched the ball from Zielisnki’s feet, beat Lobotka and put Leao through for the 3-0 to seal it.
Tonali is the symbol of a club that waits and doesn’t judge: the first year he was up and down and then in 2021-22 he began to show his true ability. He has beens spoken about as the future of the national team but by now the comparison with Pirlo has been set aside, given the lack of similarities aside from the hair.
He is the fourth-most used player in the squad after Kalulu, Tomori and Theo, and he has two goals in more than two thousand minutes played over 25 games.
Among Empoli’s ranks is Nicolò Cambiaghi, who came through Atalanta’s academy and is on loan from there. Back in 2008 he faced Tonali with La Dea, when Sandro was with Brescia and played as a forward. Tomorrow, 15 years later, they will face off again.
Grande Tonali! Forza Sandro!
