It is no secret that Sandro Tonali wants to return to Italy at some stage in his career and AC Milan would jump at the chance. But it won’t be now.
In recent years, there has been plenty of talk about Tonali’s return to Milan, eventually. The time must be right and whilst both parties want it, there is a third that may not allow it. Indeed, if money was no object, the Italian midfielder probably wouldn’t have left.

However, it is now likely to be the reason why he won’t return anytime soon. His value has only increased since leaving San Siro and whilst the desire for a return remains, he is outside of the financial bracket of Serie A.
Tonali heading for Newcastle exit
As Calciomercato.com writes, Arsenal and Manchester City are the two clubs most prominently linked to the Newcastle United midfielder, who sees his time in the North East as ‘over’. Both clubs are financially able to match the figures requested by the Magpies, which is believed to be around the €100 million bracket.
Italy, unfortunately, have little to no chance and are ‘far away’ from these teams financially. It is the case for the Rossoneri (and Juventus), who would love to bring him back to Italy.
Considering that neither managed to qualify for the Champions League, it only further eliminates them from the picture, from purely a financial standpoint.

This is nonsense. Firstly Milan can pay 25mil a season for 4 seasons easily.
Secondly we have many counterparts that would jump at the chance of returning / going to the prem.
Loftus cheek – 15mil
Jashari – 30mil
Saelemaekers – 25mil.
These three plus 30mil, including 5mil in bonuses, 15 now 15 at the end of the season, = 100mil.
Of course there are many contingencies involved, but if people can easily say it’s not going to happen, then it can as easily be said that it can in a way similar to my suggestion.
Tonali is coming home!
I’m sorry, but Tonali’s not worth the money PL teams are ready to spare with for his services. On top of that Milan would not pay even half of this amount for any player right now. On top of that he will not want to come back – we have no project, neither CL game in the foreseeable future, while he is in his prime years. He may be coming home this summer, but only for a good home-made meal.
Home for summer 😂😂 that’s a good one!
You’re probably right. I was merely pointing out I believe that Milan can do it, if they wanted to. But agreed, he’s not 100mil, 70 at best. However, leading your boyhood team as the potential Captain would be a big selling point. He, and others, (zeroli, camarda, comotto) can be the focal point of a new project.
Anyway, I dream. 😂
Dream on, that’s all we have as of the moment.
I’m all for such a project that would heavily involve our youth stars, Gabbia, even Torriani in case Mike goes and I am more than willing to give the team a full pass with 0 expectations for next season and minor targets for the following one.
However, the reality is different. The moment these boys show their potential in professional level, agents will do their magic and all of them will disappear within 1-2 years. Then we will be back to ground 0.
I have the same dream… Hope
LOL, so what money to replace these players? Or are we going into another season and playing in Europe with a squad of 18 players, including one right wingback? Youth players? You don’t even address his salary demands. FFS. Stupid math.
The real issue here is that we should never have left Tonali go, and instead we should have sold Leao, who was at peak value around the same time. Commanding midfielders are heard to come by, meanwhile brainless wingers who run fast are a dime a dozen.
Money for other players would come from Estupinian, Tomori, Fofana, Leao, Pavlovic, Bondo, Chuck, Bennacer.
Leao wages given to Tonali. Not stupid math really. As I suggested, we play Comotto, Zeroli and Camarda. We already have Cisse as rotation for Nkunku, all we need is another for the right. That could be Gnonto or Zaniolo, both being roughly 20m.
I agree that we should have sold Leao and not Tonali. Hopefully the new management will give us a good reason to cheer!
Tonali price is 100mil now, which puts him in the top midfielders bracket. No way this Milan would pay for top player in any position. Worse they wouldn’t even pay to keep a top player. In fact they didn’t even needed to pay big to keep Tonali, all they needed to do was to be just a bit less greedy and think a tiny bit about the footballing aspect of the club.
I agree we are not spending right
My opinion is that we need a tonali or a player like reijnders (i hope that its gonna be jashari if we dont get tonali )
* I need tonali even if we made only another transfer
Nobody is paying 100 mil for Tonali. Nobody. He’s not anywhere near one of the best midfielders in the world.
You’re right, Tonali is not one of the best midfielders in the world.
But the top level EPL teams are so rich now that they can pay that sort of asking price.
Only PSG can match their pricing.
Barca and Real Madrid remain in heavy debt and have to recruit more selectively
newcastle were interested w/ RLC & Tomori, i’ll gladly swap those 2 w/ Tonali
News for next week are Maldini will come home.. 2 weeks later boban will come home too.. guys you must be give us good news .😁😂😁😂
Tonali is not coming back folks…We have Ricci…isn’t he supposed to explode into a great player in season two?
