Sandro Tonali has travelled back to Italy for the International break. However, the former AC Milan midfielder has also had a meeting with his agent.
There have been several suggestions about Tonali’s future since he has left Milan. Most have hoped that he would return to the Rossoneri in the future, perhaps even to captain the side which he supports and has done since childhood.

The question has even been asked a few times at press conferences, with Eddie Howe even replying to one, previously. Yet, the idea has never died down, especially with Juventus stepping up their pursuit of the midfielder.
Tonali meets Riso
So, the report from Goal at the start of the international break is particularly interesting. As Calciomercato.com relays, the son of the Diavolo met with Beppe Riso, who has excellent relations with the club, in Milano on Monday after landing in Italy.
It must be remembered that he is in the country for the international break, not for talks. However, the idea of a return to Italy ‘could be reopened’ and he ‘wouldn’t say no to a return to Italy’, with the Bianconeri currently pushing hardest.
With that said, all of Italy’s top clubs are watching his situation, and whilst it would take a big offer to convince Newcastle, it does not seem he is unsellable. Rather, his value would have to be met and not compromised.
He’s been the best, bar-none, all round midfielder anywhere in the PL this season. He was unbelievable last year. If Rice was worth £105m that means Sandro has to leave for a British record. Coutinho sold for £142m in 2018, that’s where the talks start.
No Italian club can afford that. Best to get him tied down to another long term contract.

Modric will retire soon but Ricci and Jashari need a chance.

A lot can change in one transfer market. This team is not shy about selling players as you know. They are also extremely tempted by anything that they perceive to have a positive downstream marketing effect.

for attack and midfield I would pause until summer… RLC is definitely the first one to leave out of the current midfield (the rest 5 are too good to let go)
with Modric aging we also have Comotto that should develop just fine in 2 years before Luka retires
Maehle is not good enough for what Milan needs. Only slightly better than Estupinian…

He wouldn’t say no to returning to Italy “AFTER HIS CONTRACT RUNS OUT IN 2028”.
He ain’t gonna leave all that money on the table right now. His team plays in the UCL regularly. It’s not like he misses the Peninsula either (he can always visit on days off).
Journalists just think all the best Italians should play in Italy. It’s embarrassing as heck. Italy can hardly AFFORD to keep these Italians here.
When Modric retire in 2 years or so, and Ricci takes over, we just have to sell RLC to make room for Tonali
