AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali believes that the preparation was not lacking ahead of the game against Torino, but ‘wasted opportunities’ cost them.

The Rossoneri were held to another 0-0 draw last night, this time against Ivan Juric’s Torino, making it back to back stalemates in the crucial part of the season. Tonali spoke during an interview with Milan TV after the game to offer his thoughts on the latest setback, with MilanNews relaying his comments.

“We knew it would be a difficult match, we prepared for it during the week. But the matches change. Torino are a tough team, it was a battle. We have wasted the opportunities we had before us and this makes the difference. We deserved the goal and we are sorry for that,” he said.

“We must free ourselves without playing with the weight of looking at the table. We must go back to being carefree and it is mandatory to do so against Genoa. The fans have helped us and pushed, but it was not enough; there are always many: they also transmit the their passion. From the next match we have to change.”

Tonali also spoke to DAZN: “There is a lot of bitterness given that we came from another 0-0. Let’s put these two games aside, it’s not easy, it’s a shame we didn’t take advantage of these two games.”

On the season finale: “There are fewer and fewer games to go. A victory today could change the spirit, we have to try to reset everything. We played the game again today, but we didn’t score.”

On his chance in the second half: “I wanted to kick right away, then I changed my mind. The goalkeeper moved and read my shot.”

On the team spirit: “We are still at the top, every match can change everything. One victory is enough to change things.”

On the Scudetto: “If we believe it? Always!”
