Torino president takes Milan target off the market again: “No intention of selling”

Torino president Urbano Cairo has claimed that he has ‘no intention’ of selling captain Alessandro Buongiorno this summer, despite the exit talk.

Buongiorno is one of the most talked about players in the Italian media given that he is one of the national team’s most promising defenders and he continues to show himself to be among the best centre-backs in Serie A.

Milan have been repeatedly linked with a move for the 24-year-old since the January window when they required urgent help for the defence, and those links have continued in view of the upcoming summer mercato.

Now, Torino’s president Cairo has given an interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport in which he spoke about the season that has just ended and what might happen to some of their key players.

“Since Rodriguez didn’t stay, he will also have the armband. He has a contract until 2028 and I want to keep him because I love him,” he said (via Radio Rossonera).

“His value? I don’t know, I didn’t put him on the market and therefore he doesn’t have a price. He is coming off the back of a super season because, after he wanted to stay with us last summer, he was even more responsible.

“He had an amazing performance level and left no room for any attacker. I enjoy having him and I have no intention of selling him.”

It has also been mentioned by various outlets that Napoli and Inter are keen on Buongiorno, as well as clubs from the Premier League.
