Mario Gila has returned to Italy and he will not play another minute of pre-season for his new club, AC Milan.
Unfortunately, news broke yesterday that Gila was one of five players leaving the pre-season camp and heading back to Italy, with the Spaniard still suffering from his injury. It was hoped that he would recover during the tour and the absence against Inter was not a major shock.

However, to see him forced to head home early is not a great sign.
Gila returns to Italy
After yesterday’s report, Gazzetta dello Sport write that his target is a return against Torino in the first game of the Serie A season, as seen below. Indeed, it was reported on July 28 that he should be back in training within a week, so this news certainly isn’t too positive.
However, it is best to be cautious with him in friendlies to ensure that he is fine for the first game of the season.

We’ve seen this dance before. No pre season, no getting used to the team or team mates being used to the player, comes back from an injury for a couple of weeks, needs a bit more time out…
