Tuttosport: Uruguayan midfielder back in Milan’s sights after Galatasaray move

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have once again been linked with a potential move for Lucas Torreira, as has now become a seemingly yearly occurrence.

Today’s edition of Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) talks about Milan and the upcoming summer window, during which Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are hoping to recruit a new deputy to Ismael Bennacer.

Lucas Torreira is a name that was linked with Milan while he was at Sampdoria, Arsenal and Fiorentina, and he is now back to his best with Galatasaray having made 19 league appearances this season.

The feeling is that the Uruguayan would be a perfect alternative to Bennacer given he is similar in a lot of ways to the Algerian with his combative style, ability on the ball and his low centre of gravity.

It certainly won’t be easy to sign him, as Galatasaray would like to collect an amount more or less equal to what they paid out in the summer to buy him from Arsenal, which is around €6m as per Turkish Football and other sources.

  1. When i saw us getting rumoured interested in icardi earlier this week i thought to myself its just a matter of time before Torreira will be brought forth again so i guess we will spend our entire transfer kit on galatasaray players this summer. Zaniolo, torreira and icardi in a combined deal, 50 mil 😀

      1. That would mean we also hired buruk 😀 hopefully not happening as pioli has my support but my initial comment was also just said in jest but you never know maybe something could be done as a package solution. All players could be of some value but not really convinced it would be the right choice to make. Galatasaray apparently isnt in a very stable condition financially speaking though and Icardi has 1 year left of his contract and Zaniolo could become an instant financial gain if he was sold at lets say 25 mil valuation. Torreira has a contract lasting till 2026 but was bought for 6 mil in august so even in a combined deal of around 50 mil would offer the turks a great opportunity of capital gains.
There would be questions of the players salaries demands though as they propably are well paid for their moves to turkey.

  2. LoL?
I commented about it like a couple of days ago and now I see it posted?

Does Tuttosport draw inspiration from me or do I have clairvoyance?

Shall I give out some more prophecies?
