Transfermarkt: Milan squad suffers substantial devaluation – the numbers

AC Milan’s torrid season on the pitch has begun to take an effect on the valuation of the playing squad according to a recent report.

This season has been disappointing on several levels. The Scudetto requires miracles to happen if Milan are to have a chance of winning it, the Champions League was frustrating, and the Coppa Italia exit was crowned by boos ringing around the San Siro. Whilst there is a chance of success in the Europa League, there is a distance to go before the season is deemed anything other than a failure.

Transfermarkt (via Radio Rossonera) has reported that the poor season on the pitch has now resulted in the Rossoneri’s squad value plummeting – since the start of the season, the valuation of the squad has dropped from €574million to €533m.

The main victims of this devaluation are Theo Hernandez and Davide Calabria, who have faced drops in their value of €5m each. Luka Jovic and Ismael Bennacer’s valuations have also dropped by €3m.

It is a given, but the Diavolo quickly have to turn around their fortunes. Should they perform well in the Europa League, not only would this add a stream of revenue to their books, but in turn, player valuation would rise, which if they are sold in the summer, then adds more money for the head coach to use.
