Following an impressive six months on loan at the club, Fikayo Tomori was redeemed by Milan from Chelsea. It was a significant investment for the Rossoneri, but one that was absolutely necessary.
Based on his performances with the club, the €29m price tag was a good deal for Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara. Although they tried to lower the price tag in the negotiations with Chelsea, they eventually decided to redeem the centre-back.
As highlighted by Transfermarkt (see photo below), Tomori’s move to Milan is currently the most expensive deal of the summer in Serie A. Of course, there is still a lot of time left on the market and the record might not stand.

The last time the Rossoneri were responsible for the most expensive signing was back in the summer of 2017, when they signed Leonardo Bonucci for €42m. In other words, yet another centre-back, which are hard to find at a low price.
