Raimondo: ‘Transitional phase’ for RedBird and Milan over as ‘old bottlenecks’ disappear

After a difficult first four years at the helm, AC Milan’s owners RedBird Capital feel as though they are finally fully behind the wheel.

After such a negative end to 2025-26 and a revolution in the management which followed, a glimmer of enthusiasm and optimism is filling the minds of Milan fans, with Ruben Amorim in charge and a busy start to the summer.

Bottlenecks removed

After a slow June, the Rossoneri are now a key player in the transfer market, proving to be one of the most active teams. This is all thanks to the desire to please Amorim, who was presented yesterday at Casa Milan along with Gerry Cardinale.

It’s true that Cardinale remains under scrutiny, but the atmosphere at Milanello seems to have changed. Lawyer Felice Raimondo clearly discusses this in his latest video posted to his YouTube account (via MilanNews).

“The transitional phase for RedBird and AC Milan is finally over. Yes, because with Massimo Calvelli as the new CEO, a single-signature limit has been raised to €50m, so the old bottlenecks have disappeared.

“However, the issue of the decision-makers’ previous experience remains. Only the field will judge, but the flexibility of signing has allowed us to create an accounting masterpiece.”

  1. You really want us to believe that it was furlani’s decision to mantain that 30 million € limit/cap? 🙂 Come on, be serious, it was cardinale all along,
he was behind that policy the (this) whole time whether he just inherited that (and the 3 (or 4,
not sure) million € cap for the players’ salaries) from the previous owner or not.

      1. What does FIGC have to with it? Do you even know what FIGC is? It was furlani’s idea to keep that limit from the period gazidis was there (he even stayed under cardinale a bit) but it was in fact greasy who made that call and who decided to go along with it.

    1. Not defending Cardinale/Redbird, because for me there is still the “how you spend your money vs how much you spend” issue, but they did have the UEFA Settlement Agreement to deal with, which the club finally exited at the conclusion of this season. People are ignorant of the effect those restrictions had on how much the club could spend relative to its revenue.

      1. All I’m saying is who stood behind that limitation
all these years because we really shouldn’t fool ourselves in that respect and that’s all there is to
it. As we all know, there are many ways (so many actually) to lead the club, they opted for that one.

        1. The limitation was one imposed by UEFA. You can’t spend 100M every summer if you’re revenue is whatever percent it was relative to the spend, per the settlement agreement. So 30M was this “budget” they settled on every summer, with any excess spending coming from player sales. This is why the club was able to achieve positive cash flow since Elliott, and why they were able to exit the settlement agreement. Could they have spent their “budget” in a better way? Of course, as I said.

So we have two things happening here: 1. More money is being spent because we’re no longer under the settlement agreement (and further note that all of this spending is coming BEFORE any notable exits, which is further proof of this limiting factor); and 2. Those responsible for how we spent our prior budget (regardless of the amount) have been fired, probably due to precisely how poorly they spent that budget over the preceding four seasons.

We are all highly skeptical of ownership at this point, and rightly so, but the circumstances have also changed. As with every season, in the end, we can only judge the offseason work at the end of the season.

          1. I was referring to the limitation regarding the salaries which can be imposed only by club’s owner and board of directors but it’s a good thing you’ve mentioned FFP (sabr was talking about FIGC when it is in fact UEFA who/that regulates that stuff) because something very important changed when it comes to those restrictions as well…

    2. I think story is much more complicated than furlani, or just 1 person.

Ac Milan was investment of American fund. They gave money to Chinese owner who managed to lose everything….

So they took over because of the debt money Chinese owner had to pay them…

What was written in story is that beside that Loaned money, Elliott invested even more- 400 million to run the club, in total is almost or it is 0,7 billion, or less than 0,8 billion.
This is info from sempremilan webpage.

I think those American people does not wanted that because their job was not running the football club, and by written about total amount and how much did they sell the club, of course they sell it in way to protect their huge money.

So imagine you give someone 300 million, and that one loše it, and than you take business and give 400 more. I think everyone would panick in that situation because you dont know ehat Milan can become.

After red bird gave them 1,2 bn they removed slowly from the club. And last reconstruction of the RedBird debt managed to complete remove Elliot from politics of running the club.

In the meantime RedBirds Ac Milan now have revenue of 400 million without European money and with players sales. That’s almost double what at the beginning of story Elliotts Ac Milan had.

But still Red Bird smartly have salary cup. I think Goncalo Ramos still having 5 million net.

I think Leao, to sign new contract wouldn’t get more than 5 million net…

And thats how they protect their big investment.

Even in last bad season, there are players who can be sold for big profits; Maignan, Gabbia, De Winter, Athekame, Fofana, Saelemaekers, Bartesaghi, Pavlovic, Rabiot, Pulisic and last Leao.

These are players on relatively small ammortisation value, and their sales would make bigger profit balance.

      1. “But still Red Bird smartly have salary cup. I think Goncalo Ramos still having 5 million net. I think Leao, to sign new contract wouldn’t get more than 5 million net. And thats how they protect their big investment.”

Smart for not even dreaming of big things as if we were some mid-table club like e.g. Sassuolo, sure.

“Even in last bad season, there are players who can be sold for big profits; Maignan, Gabbia, De Winter, Athekame, Fofana, Saelemaekers, Bartesaghi, Pavlovic, Rabiot, Pulisic and last Leao.”

Define BIG? You’re obsessed with that capital gain.

        1. Money is most important thing.

You have to change your point of view from person who want Milan to win everything to person who invested a lot of money and is in line of small profit or loss every year.
They still every year can invest 100+ if they can sell 50- 70 of capital gain. Yes, capital gain is what make club profits… not amount of players sale.

Before Hernandez departure, Bartesaghi value was maybe few million of euros. Now is at least 25. He could be sold for 30 to up to 50. And that is by definition pure capital.

In contrast Milan get 60 from UCL league and that 60 require big work and some expenses. Bartesaghi only needed to train everyday.

So thats why they invest this year heavily. They want this final step- UCl money.
Inter finished season with 500 million of revenue.
          15 million of profit.
To get that, they lost UCL revenue sooner, but Serie a position and Coppa, maybe them reach 500.
Milan in contrast 433, with 100 from capital of player trades.

  2. Suddenly everyone wants to stick their tongue in his arschole. He needs to shell out money because the last 4 seasons under him were abysmal to say the least. AC Milan recorded number of historically negative records since he took over. Not to mention sacking our legend who got us Scudetto and made us relevant in CL and selling fan favourite both in same summer. He’s starting to feel the heat and needed to do something. At least now they’re making targeted and quality signings for the gaffer.

    1. Perhaps all that we’ve been through happened for a reason. Let’s see how we do this season.

    2. Back to everything that Maldini said needed changing and reinforcing. 4 years later and Gerry didn’t reinvent sh1t.

      1. Milan literally reinvested everything they were getting. The problem was that Maldini wasn’t bringing much to reinvest since he was letting players leave with Milan getting nothing for them but they had to spend money to replace those same players.
Real Madrid so far this summer have collected 122.5 mil from players sales that didn’t even play for them.
60 m from Paz, 20m from Victor Munoz, 15m from Gila, 15 from Alvaro Rodriguez, 12,5 from Alex Jimenez (remember him).
How much money did Paolo Maldini who knew everything brought back from players that were starters at Milan when they left? 0000000000000000000000

        1. Stop spinning the past, that was a calculated risk in order for us to be able to win the “scudetto”!!!
