CM.it: Milan in triple negotiation with Jorge Mendes after Real Madrid forward changes agent

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan remain interested in signing Marco Asensio from Real Madrid and his change in agent certainly doesn’t harm their chances, a report claims.

According to Calciomercato.it, Asensio appears to have decided to leave Real Madrid in the summer in search of a new project and he confirmed in the last few hours on social media that he has split from his old agent Horacio Gaggioli and will now be represented by Jorge Mendes.

There is a lot of talk about a possible renewal with Los Blancos but even if he were to extend it would not rule out a sale. Asensio has 11 goals this season but is not a guaranteed starter under Carlo Ancelotti and with new signings like Kylian Mbappe his farewell would become very likely.

Milan have already taken the first concrete steps to sign Asensio as Paolo Maldini is hunting for quality, goals and assists for the attack in precisely the role played by the Spaniard. If Investcorp take over then the funds should be there to make the operation happen, because they might well be more willing to get close to the €7m net per season demands.

The change of agent does not represent a problem also because relations between Maldini and Mendes are excellent. The Rossoneri are in talks with him over the renewal of Rafael Leao and it is no coincidence that there have also been talks with Mendes about his other clients, such as Renato Sanches.

Tottenham and especially Arsenal are also keen on Asensio and clearly remain in the running for the Spaniard, while both would have no problem meeting his salary demands, though Milan’s charm could make the difference.
