Tudor admits Milan ‘deservedly won’ against Verona and reveals what Ibrahimovic told him at full-time

By Oliver Fisher -

Hellas Verona head coach Igor Tudor has conceded that his side were second best during their 3-1 defeat against AC Milan last night.

Milan took a huge step towards securing the Scudetto as they came from behind to beat Hellas Verona at the Stadio MarcAntonio Bentegodi. A frantic first half took a bad turn for the Rossoneri when Lazovic was found by a cross from Faraoni and he headed in from close range.

However, the equaliser didn’t take long to come as Rafael Leao set up Sandro Tonali to bundle in from a few yards out. Early in the second half it was the same combination that gave the Rossoneri the lead as the Italian midfielder again was on hand to convert a cut-back from the Portuguese winger, and Alessandro Florenzi came off the bench to fire in a third in the closing stages.

At the end of the match against Milan, Tudor spoke to DAZN to reflect on the game and the performance from his side, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

On Milan: “Milan had a good game, they deservedly won because they were better. We had a good match, but nothing more. I congratulate the Rossoneri.”

On Verona’s attacking performance: “Milan play man to man, they have strong players to play this game. We had opportunities, but it’s clear to struggle against these great teams. It’s not easy, we tried. Too bad for the goal at the beginning of the second half, it made me angry because we talked about their counter-attacks on our corners during the week. Milan won deservedly anyway.”

On the growth of Verona: “Verona lacks nothing, we have 52 points, that is crazy stuff. We have had a great season, we have had good games even against great teams. The reality is that we can do well against the great teams if they are not at their best. Milan have an impressive physicality and game.”

On Ibrahimovic: “I asked him how long he wants to play again, he told me he has some knee problems but he wants to go on. I don’t know if he will go on, you have to ask him.”
