TuttoSalernitana: Milan send scouts to monitoring condition of €25m forward

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan and Fiorentina sent scouts to Salernitana’s summer training camp to watch Boulaye Dia in action, according to a report.

According to TuttoSalernitana, which is part of the TMW network, emmissiaries from Milan and Fiorentina have been at Rivisondoli to closely observe Dia and evaluate his condition.

The Senegalese striker is returning from surgery on his left meniscus at the end of May and is now on the road to full recovery, even if their head coach Paolo Sousa was clear about not rushing him.

“Hasting recovery times could lead to muscle imbalances and therefore increase the risk of injury,” he said. Therefore, the former Villarreal man is continuing his personalised program for now.

He will miss the first friendlies of the summer because he is only working at the gym and a bit on the field at the moment. Meanwhile, the release clause of €25m will expire on 20 July and there is the possibility he stays.

    1. Signing a player who is coming off a MCL year is a huge risk especially for 25M. Have to pass on this one until he can show he’s fully recovered which takes about a year on average

    1. A meniscus tear is not a very serious injury, especially for a young athlete. Florenzi has surgery on meniscus tear and was out a little over a month.

      1. minor anthroscopic surgery can be recovered from in 4 to 6 months, it depends how severe the tear was. Also if he recovers then averages 16 goals again and 6 assists, 22 points in 33 games over 30 this year, he will be worth twice as much on the market minimum. It is a risk yes, goal scorers in Italy don’t grow on trees.

  1. Already signed an injured player last summer. Didn’t work out so hot for us. I’d hold off. Plenty of healthy targets available.

    1. Agree. It’s enough to be making a move to a bigger team, and having to integrate into a new squad without also having to monitor complications from the previous injury.
