Tuttosport: ’14 days to keep hold of Milan’ – pressure already on Fonseca

Paulo Fonseca arrived in the summer to criticism and after three Serie A fixtures, the noise is only louder. Today, a report has suggested that he has two weeks to keep hold of his position at AC Milan. In other words, it’s not looking good.

Starting as Milan have is awful, especially when you consider that they’ve not faced a particularly difficult opponent. Had the Rossoneri won the opening two fixtures, arguments could be made about dropping points to Lazio at the Olimpico. However, they did not and deservedly did not.

So far, there has not been a game where the Diavolo should have won. They have been second best consistently, prone to mistakes, and as a whole, disjointed. Partner this with rumblings of a disconnect within the squad, and you are building a hellish situation.

The man tasked to sort that out is the man brought in to solve the issues in the first place – Fonseca. So far, he has not solved the issues, and many believe he has worsened them, with an earlier report suggesting the Portuguese head coach had extended the Milanese horror film.

As Tuttosport (via Milan News) now suggests, he now faces a 14-day trial. Whilst his stars will not be present for the majority of this time due to the international break, he has a chance to reflect and work with what he has.

Venezia, Liverpool and the Derby della Madonnina await. After that, it remains to be seen if the sack or continuity awaits him. The stakes are high, and in this case, pressure must make diamonds.
