Tuttosport: A €20m bargain with 15 goals – Pulisic now worth double

By Oliver Fisher -

Christian Pulisic got his first brace for AC Milan during the win over Cagliari on Saturday night at San Siro, and the praise for the winger has continued from the media.

As this morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) writes, Pulisic is experiencing the best season of his career and it is only his first with Milan, given that he has 12 goals in Serie A and 15 in total across all competitions.

His previous record was in the 2019-20 season when with Chelsea he scored nine goals in the Premier League and 11 in total. He also has nine assists for the Rossoneri, for a total of 24 goal contributions for the season.

The purchase of Pulisic for €20m from the Blurs proved to be an excellent investment for Milan, who had long since needed an upgrade on the right wing. Junior Messias and Alexis Saelemaekers were in that role before and although they tried their best, the same level of quality was not there.

Between them, they had scored 22 goals (12 for the Brazilian in two years, 10 for the Belgian in three and a half years) in 208 games ( 68 and 140 ) overall – an average of one goal every 9.45 games. Pulisic managed to surpass both, averaging a goal every 3.2 games.

The Rossoneri’s hope is that it continues like this because Pulisic is now worth at least double the €20m spent, while Messias and Saelemaekers are expected to bring in €13.5m in total.

      1. Because we can’t wait until his value drops, buy low sell high let’s go! My friend you think like Italians who are corrupted and stuck in the middle age, and if you disagree then you are xenophobic because you’re anti-American. Leao will be allowed to stay because he didn’t reach his peak value, for the rest let’s roll the moneyball baby!

        1. Ha ha ha.
          Buy low sell high!!!
Can you tell us why is this label slapped on Milan?
Is it because they sold one player who asked to leave to cover for his debt from his gambling addiction?
What other player was bought low and sold high over the last 5 years?
Please enlighten us, but with facts, not emotions, delusions, and fabricated narratives.
What other player was bought low and sold high?

          1. Man you start with a fantasy story about Tonali from your imagination and you ask me for tangible facts haha that’s unfair so no thanks, keep sleeping everything is fine in the fairy land of the brand

          2. That’s what I thought.
No facts to back up the claims.
I guess we are just going to have to trust your intuition 😌.
            What fantasy story?
Was he not banned from football for betting?
Was he not banned from football for betting on illegal platforms?
Did he not leave Milan for quadruple the salary he was making at Milan?
Remember, no player can be sold without his say so. Tonali couldn’t sign the contract fast enough.

          3. What about this? Sandro decided to leave because he knew the authorities are poking around and didn’t want to hurt his boyhood club? So when the offer came he pounced on it like me on a crate of beer..

Also he only doubled the salary, and receives none of it atm. Duo to being banned or something. Idk

        2. You do realize Tonali is serving another two months for betting on Newcastle while serving his current ban right. The guy has a serious problem and can’t control himself.

          1. You do realize that writing some fantasy tale in the comment section of an Internet website doesn’t make it true?

He has been banned by FA for betting before October 12th, 2023. He received his first ban on October 28th, 2023. So he didn’t bet during his current ban, and your claim is completely made up.

  1. Top player and always was. He was a victim of Chelsea buying anything that moved and then not knowing what to do with it (some things never change).

    1. I’m not sure they will unless the dollar amount is huge. Puli brings more to the table being American. This team has focused on the American market pretty heavily and having the most famous American in the sport helps a lot.

Pulisic is worth more than his trade value to a club like Milan. Most EPL teams already get American money. Serie A teams get very little, and that’s where he can help. Americans spend money on Tema clothing, jerseys, pictures, accessories. The NFL makes mad bank on clothing alone any football team would kill for.

      1. Agreed. I would imagine with US owners we’ll want Captain America to be a Milan player into WC2026 when he’ll be very marketable.

        1. I also think that he would be bumped into a Vice-Captain next season and possibly Captain on 2025/26 season (if Calabria is sold), just to give more exposure. I meant US media would be all over him and thus giving more exposure to our club if he also captained the team.

  2. I think it’s safe to say that Pulisic has been the best signing last summer, followed by Reijnders. For me anyway.

  3. Pulisic is a very good player that can become great at Milan. He has a combination of traits that you don’t often find: very good with either foot, as an attacker very willing to track back on defense, able to play multiple positions across the front and the attacking midfield, zero attitude and very open to learning and helping others, very unselfish, and he holds the American market. Too, he’s very intelligent. I think his favorite game, speed chess, has improved his quick decision making. As an aside, I would like to see these players continue to wear their mom’s name on the back, as no one on the planet wants to let their mom down.
