Tuttosport: Calabria expected to become Milan’s new captain but Tonali is lurking

Alessio Romagnoli’s contract will expire in the summer and seeing as a renewal isn’t looking likely, AC Milan will have to appoint a new captain. Davide Calabria is in pole position, being the current vice-captain.

As reported by today’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Calabria is the primary candidate to take over the captain’s armband after Romagnoli. After all, he has worn it several times this season as the centre-back hasn’t always been available.

Calabria came through the youth ranks and is thus the perfect man to wear the captain’s armband, also because he has started 142 games for the club. Having said that, Milan will need a new vice-captain for next season.

Sandro Tonali is one of the players that could get that role, per the newspaper, and future captaincy cannot be ruled out for the midfielder. He’s been a fan of the club ever since he was a kid and always gives everything on the pitch.
