Tuttosport: Talks restart for Calabria’s Milan renewal – the small adjustment required

The upcoming window is pivotal for AC Milan, and whilst the focus will be signing new players, there is also a focus on ensuring their current squad stays at the club, and one of the priorities is extending Davide Calabria’s stay.

Right-back is a position that Milan want to strengthen, but they first must have a foundation, and Calabria provides that and more for the Rossoneri. Like all players this season, the Italian has faced more scrutiny, but maybe this is due to the problems the squad have been through.

Regardless of that, he is a strong leader, and there is a desire from the club and the player to extend their relationship, this has been reported for some time now, and according to a report from Tuttosport (via Milan News), talks have begun.

It is understood that there is one request that Calabria has, and it is concerning his salary, which is currently €2 million per season. Whilst it is not stated how much the rise being requested is, the report suggests that he wants a ‘small adjustment’, instead of doubling his salary, which had been reported previously.

Furthermore, there is no hurry to finalise anything, even if his contract expires next season, and this is due to the mutual desire for the parties to continue together, meaning there are no pressures to quickly negotiate a deal.
