Tuttosport: Chelsea defender re-emerges on Milan’s wish list – the details

AC Milan are heavily expected to invest in a central defender in the upcoming summer mercato, and today, a report has suggested that they are tempted by the prospect of a defender they were once heavily linked with.

There are two leading reasons why Milan want to invest in a central defender in the summer. Primarily, the injuries that occurred this season massively hurt the Rossoneri’s chances of Scudetto success, and a repeat cannot be allowed to happen.

The other issue is that Simon Kjaer looks likely to leave the club at the expiration of his contract, with the Diavolo looking unlikely to offer him a new deal, even on reduced terms. Therefore, reinforcements are needed.

Matteo Gabbia’s return in January lessened the need for immediate investment, and his performances this season have meant that this could reduce the need to invest in numerous defenders. However, there is still a desire for additional cover.

Today, Tuttosport (via TMW) have reported that Milan could once again look at Benoit Badiashile as an option to bring to the club. The Frenchman has not played much this season but is a player with quality. Additionally, the Rossoneri’s previous history with surplus Chelsea players at a low price is a factor which cannot be ignored.
